Rock Instructor & Tree Assistant
Twenty years ago, Zubin was afraid of heights. He didn’t even like walking on the roof of a one story building. Then he read a climbing thriller set in Yosemite, and knew that he HAD to try climbing. Knowing nothing about it, he went out and bought a harness and shoes, signed up for an introductory class at the gym, and took it one step at a time.
It took him two weeks to get to the top of the easiest route at the climbing gym. Then over the next 18 years, through slow but steady progress, he climbed at dozens of crags across the US – Yosemite included. He has worked with multiple local groups, and has been taking beginners outdoors for over a decade.
He loves sharing his journey, especially with newcomers to climbing, and making climbing accessible to more people. You will probably hear him say “you’re a lot better than I was when I started doing this”. In his spare time, he plays chess, and speedskates with a local club.
Zubin is an AMGA SPI certified guide, and has been guiding professionally for 2 years. He is WFR (Wilderness First Responder) certified, and has been trained on Adaptive Climbing.
