This 4-day 12-session course is designed for individuals wishing to share the joy of tree climbing with others. Participants will learn how to prepare a tree climbing site, understand the equipment requirements, manage program logistics, and delve into the administrative aspects associated with running a climbing program. The course concludes with a hands-on opportunity to run an actual tree climbing program with volunteer guests under the direction of the course instructor.
While there are no mandatory prerequisites for this course, we highly recommend having one or more of the following experiences:
These experiences along with good physical fitness will enhance your overall learning and enjoyment of the course.
Upon completion of the course, students will complete 3 apprentice climbs. During these climbs candidates will work under the direction of a tree climbing instructor. These climbing can take place locally or candidates can travel to work events that happen in other cities. Candidates will be expected to complete their apprentice climbs over a 1-year timeframe.
Upon completing 3-apprentice climbs candidates will be eligible to take the 1-day TCF exam. Passing score is 70%. Certification is valid for 3 years.
Participants will be emailed the following materials once enrolled in the training. They are not designed for self-training but to be used in conjunction with the course.
This handbook is a detailed outline that is used throughout the course and as a reference following the course.
Participants will have access to video resources to supplement the training process.
To ensure a successful course experience course participants should come prepared each day with the follow:
$950 per student (min 4, max 6)
The tuition does not include travel costs for the instructor. Travel cost can be avoided if participants take the course at our St. Louis training locations.
