Do I need prior experience?

No prior experience is necessary for our introductory courses and recreational programs. For advanced instruction or professional training, prerequisites are listed in each course description.

What should I bring?

We provide all specialized climbing gear. Participants should wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing, sturdy shoes, and bring water and snacks. Additional requirements are listed by program.

Is it safe?

Safety is our top priority. All programs are led by certified instructors who follow industry best practices and use professional-grade equipment.

Are your courses worth the investment?

Absolutely. Our courses are designed to deliver practical skills and lasting value. In fact, we stand behind them with a simple promise: if you don’t feel you gained new knowledge or skills, we’ll refund your tuition in full.

How long are the programs?

Program lengths vary. Introductory experiences last about 2 hours, while multi-day courses and overnight adventures are also available.

Can I book a private or group session?

Absolutely. We offer customized sessions for individuals, families, schools, and organizations. Private instruction is available upon request.

Where do programs take place?

Our programs run in St. Louis and the surrounding Midwest region. Locations are selected for safety, accessibility, and a memorable outdoor experience.

Basic Tree Climbing

Overview

The Basic Tree Climbing Course (BTCC) is a personalized, hands-on training experience designed to teach the essential skills required to safely climb trees using a Moving Rope System (MRS), formerly known as Doubled-Rope Technique (DdRT). This course is available by appointment for up to 3 participants, allowing for individualized instruction and attention.


Day 1: Technical Skills and Tree Assessment

On Day 1, participants will be introduced to the technical skills necessary for safe tree climbing. This includes an in-depth tree assessment process, where participants learn to evaluate trees for climbing suitability. The day also covers safety protocols, climbing gear, and the basic principles of MRS.

Day 2: Guided Practice

Emphasis will be placed on safety, comfort, and technique, as well as personalized gear recommendations tailored to each participant.

Gear Shopping List and Recommendations

We assist each participant in creating a tailored shopping list for climbing gear, ensuring that their equipment is suited to their specific needs and promotes safe, effective climbing. Our expert guidance will help you select the right ropes, harnesses, carabiners, and protective gear.
